Censorship in Russia - Mar 5, 2022
Russia stepped up its censorship in response to public protest against the war. Here's the websites and platforms Russians can still access.
Accessible or Blocked in Russia?
This graphic shows which websites remain accessible in Russia and which are blocked. The BBC, Facebook, Line.me, LinkedIn, and Twitter are not accessible in Russia at this time. Still, a range of websites remains accessible including YouTube and Reddit. Russians can also still access Archive.is and the Wayback Internet Archive, meaning they may be able to access archived versions of blocked content.
In addition to the websites listed in the graphic, Russia started blocking access to the Tor anonymity network in December 2021. See “Tor blocked in Russia: how to circumvent censorship” for instructions on circumventing blocks.
Website Checks
Accessibility was assessed using the Open Observatory of Network Interference on March 4, 2022, at 7 PM ET. If this post is updated the date will reflect that. Below are the screen captures showing the accessibility shown for each website.
